Project Area- Randomized Controlled Trial on mHealth intervention
Apara contracted with Harvard University under the Lown Scholar program for conducting a research study titled “Effectiveness and adoption of the structured mHealth intervention for improving blood pressure control (TelTex4BP) among adults with hypertension in Nepal: A randomized controlled trial”.
This study is about exploring the effectiveness and adoption of the structured mHealth intervention (Text messages and telephone calls) for improving blood pressure control among adults with hypertension. The project started in April 2025 and the formative research for identifying the barriers to effectively manage hypertension has been completed. The enrolment is expected to commence from September this year.
This is a 2-year project where the patients will be followed up for a year after enrolment. The principal investigator is Dr. Buna Bhandari and is being led by Ms Rabina Dhakal, in close coordination with Sahid Gangalal National Heart Center.

Project Area- Evidence Gap Analysis in Nutrition Research
Apara collaborated with Mangalyan Foundation as a strategic partner for conducting a evidence gap analysis in nutrition research in Nepal. Jointly, Apara and Mangalayan are conducting a systematic review for the same.
This collaboration seeks to generate evidence and provide recommendations for the future research in Nepal in the sector of nutrition from a life-cycle approach.
